ACE Liberia’s Board is the backbone, inspiration, and life-force that has fueled the organization since 2007. Our members contribute their expertise, time, and have also provided monetary support to ensure the success of ACE Liberia’s mission and vision.
Dr. Sophie Williams (Ed.D, NCC)
Board Chair
Sophie is President of S Williams Consulting, LLC. Dr. Williams has over 35 years of experience in education, workforce development and management in the USA and Liberia.
Tonyehn Verkitus
Vice Chair
Tonyehn is the Executive Director of the Luzerne and Lackawanna County Medical Societies and has more than 15 years of experience in marketing and promotions, development, and non-profit operations. Tonyehn also sits on the boards of Lackawanna Arts, Culture & Education Department, and The Greenhouse Project.
John S. Morlu (MBA, CPA)
Treasurer
John is the President and CEO of JS Morlu, LLC, a licensed CPA firm in Virginia and the Washington DC serving clientele around the globe. John is the former Auditor General/Principal Auditor of the Republic of Liberia recruited by the European Union under an international agreement.
Hélène Rodriguez Sherman (M.P.S.)
SecretaryHélène is an international development professional with over 10 years experience in program management in Francophone African countries. She coordinates between field projects and headquarters on work planning, reporting, budgets and contractual aspects. She specializes in health/HIV projects and capacity strengthening for local NGOs. She loves working with country teams and visiting new countries.
Garway A.D. Bright (B.A.)
Assistant Secretary Garway A.D. Bright is the Compliance Director for Sales, Product Development and Marketing for the US Life Insurance Division at Genworth Financial, Inc. Mr. Bright served as president of the Liberian Association of Virginia (LAVA) from March 2011 to March 2014.
Sharon Richardson (MSW)
Sharon is a retired Social Worker for Newport News Public Schools, VA and the former National Director of International Trends and Services for The Links, Inc. Previously worked with Ministry of Health and Social Welfare in Liberia before the civil war.
Valerie Royster (BA, PHR)
Valerie is a retired human resource professional. Over 30 years of experience concentrating in training and workforce development in medium and small size corporations.
Rose Mends-Cole Sherman (MSW)
Rose is a retired social worker with over 45 years of experience in social and development work in Liberia, Togo, Senegal, Kenya, Sierra Leone, Sudan and the U.S. Rose lives in Monrovia, Liberia and provides an instrumental role in making ACE’s vision a reality.

Tracy Marshall (B.S.)
Tracy the founder and President of STRATeCOMMM, LLC, a custom digital development and marketing firm. He has 20+ years of combined experience in marketing and communications strategy, management, operations, business development and consulting for non-profits, Federal and state government agencies and Fortune 500 companies.
Dr. Jobila Sy, (Ed.D)
Jobila is an Associate Professor, American University in Antigua. Formerly, Director of Academic Advising, College of William and Mary. Ten years of experience in higher education administration in the U.S. and research interests in academic counseling/student development in Liberia.
